What I have
realised is that when analysing an opening sequence it is hard to analyse as
thoroughly a sequence to a show that you have absolutely no idea what it’s
about. Also although many title
sequences aim to follow a specific pattern many of them while following the
pattern make it so that the titles are specific to the show also the best title
sequences let the audience know what the show is about and the more elusive ones
unless you are following the series are probably not as effective.
I suppose the key things to consider are to note down what the sequence implies the show will be about and how that is designed to create an impact with the suspected target audience. It's also worth noting whether, within the genre that you're working, there are clear conventions (typeface, iconography/ imagery, types of clip etc.) as well as the more conventional expectations for such sequences.
